The African Mean Girls Play

Jocelyn Bioh’s play explores colorism in this comedy directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman and produced by MCC Theater. Paulina (MaameYaa Boafo) —the queen bee at an exlusive Ghanan school—is set on competing in the Miss Universe pageant. However, the arrival of Ericka (Joanna A. Jones), an American transfer student, captures the attention of the recruiter along with Paulina’s friends.

 



Uncle Vanya

Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College is directed by Richard Nelson. Vanya (Jay O. Sanders) and his niece Sonya (Yvonne Woods) struggle to care for the estate owned by Vanya’s brother-in-law Alexánder (Jon DeVries), a wealthy professor. When he returns with a beautiful new wife and plans to sell the estate, hidden passions explode and lives come undone.

The Nance

Tony Award-winner Nathan Lane stars in Douglas Carter Beane’s dark comedy as Chauncey Miles, who faces a changing world and his own self-loathing. The play paints the portrait of a homosexual man, living and working in the secretive and dangerous gay world of 1930s New York, whose outrageous antics on the burlesque stage stand in marked contrast to his offstage life.
