Broadway's Jekyll and Hyde Musical Streams Free Globally February 10

Broadway's Jekyll and Hyde Musical Streams Free Globally February 10

Frank Wildhorn's original Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde, as captured live at New York's Plymouth Theatre (Now the Schoenfeld) will be available for free streaming on February 10 thanks to Broadway on Demand.

The musical was captured live as part of Broadway Worldwide's "Direct from Broadway" program, which filmed multiple Broadway productions in its years of operation (shows include Memphis, Putting it Together, and Smokey Joe's Cafe).

Broadway Worldwide pioneered the idea of streaming Broadway shows online, with an innovative platform called "Broadway Online" in the early 2000s that served as the first streaming platform for Broadway musicals. Unfortunately due to technical limitations at the time, the platform did not manage to gain much popularity.

The filmed production of Jekyll & Hyde features the show's closing cast including David Hasselhoff as Dr. Henry Jekyll / Mr. Edward Hyde,  Coleen Sexton as Lucy Harris, Andrea Rivette as Emma Carew, George Merritt as Mr. John Utterson, Barrie Ingham as Sir Danvers Carew, Martin Van Treuren as Lord Theodore Savage / The Spider, and Robert Jensen as Mr. Simon Stride.

The musical will stream globally for free on February 10 for a limited period of 24 hours through Broadway at Home, Broadway on Demand's new streaming platform. The show will be available to watch globally and does not require a subscription.

An accompanying program for the stream can be downloaded for free through Broadway Worldwide here

If you've missed the free stream, Jekyll & Hyde is available to rent through most streaming vendors, with more info here. The musical is also available to purchase on DVD through some retailers.

Jekyll & Hyde the Musical brings new life to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story of the epic battle between good and evil, as imagined by acclaimed composer Frank Wildhorn and writer/lyricist Leslie Bricusse.

David Hasselhoff made his Broadway debut in the dual title role, bringing his performing talent off the television screen (Knight Rider, Baywatch) to the stage. The musical is the longest-running show in the history of Broadway’s Plymouth Theatre, with more than 1,500 performances over nearly four years.

The show won a legion of repeat visitors, dubbed by the press as “Jekkies”, with some hardcore fans having seen the show hundreds of times. Performers as diverse as The Moody Blues, Liza Minnelli and Johnny Mathis have recorded songs from the show, including “Someone Like You”, “This Is The Moment” and “Once Upon A Dream.”
